Safeguarding & Young People Policy

Emotional safety is at the heart of how we work. This policy explains how we protect the wellbeing of everyone who attends a session, with additional considerations for young people under 18.

Last updated · May 2026

Our commitments

  • We hold sessions as emotionally safe, respectful and confidential spaces.
  • We model considered, calm and inclusive language at all times.
  • We are mindful of pace, consent and capacity, and never push clients beyond what feels safe.
  • We work in a way that welcomes neurodivergent clients and a range of sensory needs.
  • We hold appropriate professional insurance and review our service regularly.

Consent and choice

You are always in charge of your own participation. You can pause, change direction or end a session at any time, for any reason. Consent is treated as ongoing and revisited rather than assumed.

Working with young people

Where a young person under 18 attends a session, we ask that:

  • A parent or legal guardian provides initial enquiry information and written consent.
  • A parent or guardian remains contactable for the duration of any session.
  • Boundaries about communication (for example, no direct messaging with minors) are respected.
  • Any concerns about a young person's safety or wellbeing are shared with the parent or guardian where appropriate.

We will discuss the right setup with you in advance, including whether a parent or guardian is present, nearby or contactable.

Confidentiality and its limits

What you share in sessions is treated as confidential. However, we may need to share information without your consent if:

  • We believe you or another person is at risk of serious harm.
  • A child or vulnerable adult is at risk.
  • We are required to share information by law or by a regulator.

Where possible, we will speak with you first about any concerns and the steps we feel we need to take.

Raising a safeguarding concern

If you have a safeguarding concern relating to a session, a client or our practice, please contact Jordene directly using the details below. We will listen carefully, take the concern seriously, and respond as quickly as we can.

In an emergency where someone is in immediate danger, please contact the emergency services on 999. For non-emergency concerns about a child, you can also contact the NSPCC on 0808 800 5000 or your local authority's safeguarding team.

Online session safety

For online sessions, we use reputable, password-protected video platforms. You are responsible for joining from a private, quiet space. We do not record sessions without your explicit consent and we ask you not to record sessions without ours. Please use a recent browser and a stable connection where possible.

Safe communication

We communicate via email, our enquiry forms and scheduling tool, and (where agreed) by phone. We do not use direct messaging on personal social media accounts for client communication. For minors, all written communication is routed through a parent or guardian.

Inclusion and accessibility

Sing Me Well welcomes people of all backgrounds, identities, body types and vocal experience levels. We are committed to providing thoughtful adjustments wherever we reasonably can, please see our Accessibility Statement for more.
